What You Should Do Now

🍅 Tomato Energy has entered administration and is no longer trading.

This means:

  • Your energy supply will not be interrupted.

  • Credit balances are protected by Ofgem rules.

  • British Gas will automatically take over your account.

  • Both domestic customers (21,536) and commercial customers (17,170) are included in the transfer.

  • I can help both domestic & commercial customers find better suppliers and lower rates. Contact me ASPAP is affected.

To protect customers, Ofgem has appointed British Gas as the official Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR)

These quick steps will protect your account and ensure accurate billing during the changeover.

1. Take a meter reading today

Write it down or take a photo. This is the most important step.

2. Submit your readings

If possible, send your readings through the Tomato Energy help page:

https://www.tomato.energy/contact#help-with-bills

If the site becomes unavailable, keep the photo — British Gas will request it soon.

3. Don’t cancel your Direct Debit yet

Wait until British Gas confirms your new account. Cancelling too early can delay refunds.

4. Watch for British Gas communications

Look out for emails or letters explaining your new temporary “deemed tariff”.

5. Remember — you can switch once your account is set up - talk to me, Diane

There are no exit fees when you are moved through a SoLR process.

Remember - You are not stuck with British Gas, you can change with zero exit fees to a supplier you may prefer.

I can help you with this. I'm here to help and provide you with free advice across the whole of the UK, but especially in the Charnwood Borough areas

🔍 Why This Matters Locally (Loughborough & Leicestershire)

Many families in Loughborough, Quorn, Shepshed, Barrow, Mountsorrel, Woodhouse Eves, and the wider Charnwood Borough will now be placed onto temporary British Gas tariffs that may not be the most cost-effective.

Price stability and accurate bills matter — especially during colder months.
This is a good moment to review your options once your new British Gas account is confirm.
